OUR MISSION:

To promote the personal development of children, youth and adults through cultural education while providing resources that contribute to cross-cultural understanding between Hmong and non-Hmong people.

The Hmong cultural Center also works to advance the human rights of Hmong interacting with mainstream institutions and systems across the Hmong professionals and service culturally specific needs of their Hmong constituents.

WHO ARE WE?

The Hmong Cultural Center is a non-profit organization working to support and strengthen the Hmong American communities around the Twin Cities area through practical training and cultural education.

The Center also functions to reconcile and bridge the existing gap between the Hmong and non-Hmong population in terms of cross-cultural understanding.

The Center was established in 1993 and has since been offering itself as the location where both Hmong and non-Hmong people can cone and find useful resources and training.

HMONG CULTURAL PROGRAMS:

* CULTURAL CUSTOMS PROGRAMS

Teach Hmong traditional Marriage and Funeral.

 
* CULTURAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
Teach Hmong traditional music, dance and other kind of performing.
 
* HMONG MEN'S CIRCLE
Teach basic life and cultural skill for Hmong male youth.
  
* ADULT BASIC EDUCATION AND LITERACY PROGRAM
Provide basic education and literacy for anyone who age is over 18 as such as the citizenship classes and the ESL (English as Second Language) classes.
  
* RESOURCE CENTER
Library carries a wide variety of materials including books (Hmong, English, French) news articles, periodical, academic dissertations, journals, videos, DVD, VHS.
Artifact Exhibition display a wide range of Hmong cultural objects, merchandises, tools and clothes.

    The mission of Hmong Cultural Center Inc. (HCC) is to enhance the personal development of children, youth, and adults through Hmong Cultural education while providing resources that contribute to cross-cultural understanding between Hmong and non-Hmong people.

We are the primary Hmong and Asian American organization in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area that provides community outreach activities related to multicultural education for the purposes of promoting positive race relations in the Twin Cities community.

Please visit our center if you live in the Twin Cities or are planning on visiting Minneapolis-St. Paul. Walk-ins are welcome and there are many displays to look at that teach about the Hmong people, their history, their culture and their experience in the U.S. over the past 25 years. Larger group tours and educational sessions can be arranged in advance by calling the number below.

Our Hmong Resource Center is the site of perhaps the most comprehensive collection of Hmong-related literature, scholarly research, and multimedia materials in North America.

Human Rights Focus: the Hmong Center works to advance the human rights of Hmong interacting with mainstream institutions and systems across the United States as it educates non-Hmong professionals and service workers about the background and culturally-specifically needs of their Hmong service populations.
